ROBOTICS ENGINEERING CAMP (Grades 4 to 8)

Learning about robotics engages students’ natural curiosity and helps develop confidence. Their codes come to life in ways they can see, hear, touch and even chase across the room! As students build and program their robots to navigate obstacle courses or wrestle in a Sumo battle, they are learning about programming concepts such as flow charts, repeat loops, conditional loops, sensors and data feed.

MINECRAFT® BUILDING WONDERS CAMP (Grades 3 to 8)

Want to build some of those fancy, realistic-looking awesome monuments in Minecraft? With the 7 Wonders of the World as references, the first challenge is to replicate a famous monument utilizing various blocks, ores, crafted items and tools. Teachers will provide tips and tricks from applying math to scale, and creativity to aesthetic considerations. Students will apply what they learned by designing their own famous monuments in Minecraft.

LEGO®NXT MINDSTORMS ROBOTICS (Grades 3 to 8)

Students will learn about behavior-based programming using the LEGO® MINDSTORMS® NXT software. Students will learn robot behaviors in an intuitive, logical sequence starting with simple movements, adding sensors, and finally advanced decision-making capability. Through a multi-step obstacle course, Sumo robot and other challenges, students will learn an interactive approach to problem-solving and programming. Logic, technology and creativity are combined to provide hours of learning fun!

STOP MOTION ANIMATION (Grades 3 to 8)

Lights…Camera…Action! Students’ dream of having their favorite LEGO® characters come to life and become a reality in our movie making class. Using stop-motion animation and digital post editing, students produce LEGO® Brickfilms much like the ones viewed on YouTube. Students learn about developing creative storytelling techniques and incorporating visual and audio special effects. This is a great class to take with friends. Students can take the class as many times as they like.

SCRATCH VIDEO GAME DESIGN (Grades 3 to 8)

Come and learn how to speak the language of computers! Campers will dive into the exciting world of computer programming through a block-based programming tool called “Scratch” that makes it simple for anyone to learn programming! With Scratch, the possibilities to create are endless! Throughout the camp, new programmers create projects like an “epic space battle game” or a “choose your own adventure story!

MINECRAFT MODDING CAMP (Grades 5 to 8)

Why just play Minecraft when you can create Minecraft? In this camp designed for quick learners or those with some coding experience, campers will immerse themselves in the language of computers through Minecraft! Using Java, a professional text-based coding language, campers will learn to create Minecraft mods like “craft a sword out of mushy bananas” or “spawn a flying golden cow!” This camp helps kids to make the full transition from players to creators and open up a whole new world of Minecraft!
